2020 2021 Charity

Our chapter has chosen Care of Police Survivors (COPS) as our charity for 2020.   The charity supports the families of Police Officers who have lost their life whilst serving the public.  This was particularly highlighter last year with the tragic death of PC Harper which had national media coverage.   Each year a number of officers loose their life which does not make the headlines as PC Harper did.  Each one leaves a family who need support in many ways. COPS provides this service to the surviving families.

Unfortunately Covid meant no fundraising events were possible in 2020 therefore COPS remained as our charity for 2021.

Every Year Blue Knights attend an event called LAW RIDE to commemorate fallen officers, raise money for COPS as part of the Survivors Weekend at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Stafordshire, this was reinstated this year (2021) and members of our chapter attended the ride in August.   Here are a couple of photographs of Wales1 members from past rides.

This year the famous Wales 1 summer camp resumed and lots of money raised for COPS,  on the day £586.55,  this was topped up with other donations to £700,  the cheque was presented to Daisy who represented COPS by members of the Wales 1 Committee.

Past Charities That we have supported

2019 Charity

Our chapter has chosen Blood Bikes Wales as our chosen charity for 2019.   The volunteer riders give up their time for free to provide a totally free service to the NHS across Wales,  almost every Health Board benefits from the service they offer transporting blood products and other vital medical resources between hospitals.

The service is totally funded by charitable donations and are always looking for more volunteers to join them,  not just riding bikes but in admin roles including controllers taking the calls and dispatching the riders.   If you wish to support the service either with donations or as a volunteer please follow the link to their web page above.

2018 Charity

Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales was chosen as our Charity of the Year.

Wales I have historically supported local charities and selected Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre to be their designated charity for 2018.

We conducted a number of money raising activities throughout the year

Following a sponsored diet by 3 members of the chapter,  attending the Bobath Summer Fete, organising a charity bike ride then our Summer camp with many games and money raising activities we raised £1207.23 for Bobath.  There was a formal presentation on the 1st August.
